The HFMA Puerto Rico Chapter brought together healthcare finance professionals and industry leaders on September 18 for its 2026 Annual Healthcare Update at the Condado Vanderbilt Hotel in San Juan.

This year’s program addressed several issues affecting healthcare organizations in Puerto Rico, including responsible use of artificial intelligence, advances in hospital technology, transitions of care, Medicaid, hospital finance, and the financial outlook for the industry.

Galíndez was well represented at the event, including Managing Partner Rafael Nieves, CPA, and Partners Henry Flores, CPA; Iris Otero, CPA; Axel Ramírez, CPA; and Héctor Vázquez, CPA. Also attending were Taireli Hidalgo, CPA; Edgardo Rosa, CPA; Jazmarie Rivera, CPA; Nanny Pagán, CPA; Angélica Pérez, CPA; Jennifer Negrón; Sofía Rivera; and Julio Galíndez, CPA.

Beyond attending the program, members of the Galíndez team took part in the day’s activities, including Julio’s presentation and special recognition, while Jennifer and Sofía represented the Firm at the Galíndez table throughout the event.

Sharing Perspective on Puerto Rico’s Healthcare Industry

As one of the event’s featured speakers, Julio A. Galíndez, CPA, participated in the closing session, “Update on Financial Metrics and a Future Outlook for Puerto Rico Healthcare Industry,” alongside Lcd. Iván E. Colón, MHSA, FACHE.

The presentation addressed financial metrics and the outlook for Puerto Rico’s healthcare industry, allowing Julio to share insights drawn from his extensive experience working with healthcare organizations throughout his career.

His participation continued Galíndez’s longstanding involvement in the healthcare sector and in professional forums that bring together those working on the financial and operational issues affecting healthcare organizations in Puerto Rico.

A Lifetime Recognition from HFMA

The event also marked an important career milestone for Julio Galíndez, CPA, who received the HFMA Lifetime Award in recognition of his longstanding contributions to Puerto Rico’s healthcare finance community.

As part of the presentation, Héctor Vázquez, CPA, shared a few words about Julio and his career before the recognition, and Taireli Hidalgo, CPA, presented him with the award certificate.

The recognition holds special meaning for the Galíndez team. Julio’s career and his connection to Puerto Rico’s healthcare industry are closely tied to the Firm’s history and its continued work serving organizations throughout the sector.

The 2026 HFMA Puerto Rico Annual Healthcare Update provided another opportunity for the Galíndez team to contribute to the industry conversation, connect with healthcare professionals, and celebrate an important milestone for one of our own.
