On September 30, Galíndez joined Iván Colón, MHSA, FACHE, of IEC Consulting LLC, and Roberto López of Estudios Técnicos, Inc., for an educational session focused on physician employment models and their implications for Puerto Rico’s healthcare sector.
The presentation, Physician Contracting and Compensation Models for Hospitals, explored approaches to strengthening relationships between hospitals and physicians while addressing the financial and operational realities facing healthcare institutions.

As part of the session, Julio Galíndez presented Medical Practices as a Source of Physician Recruitment: Fundamentals of Acquisition and Valuation.
His presentation examined how hospitals can facilitate the transition of medical practices from physicians approaching retirement to younger professionals, helping preserve continuity of care while creating opportunities for physician recruitment.
Galíndez also addressed the financial and operational considerations involved in acquiring a medical practice, including tangible and intangible assets, business valuation methodologies, compensation structures, and the tax implications of these transactions.
Through practical valuation examples, he outlined methods for assessing the economic value of a medical practice and structuring transactions that support the interests of both physicians and hospital organizations.
