HFMA Puerto Rico Chapter Celebrates Leadership Transition and Member Recognition

The 2026 Annual Assembly of the HFMA Puerto Rico Chapter, held at La Concha Resort, brought together healthcare finance professionals from across Puerto Rico for a day focused on education, leadership transition, and recognition within the industry.

Galíndez was proud to have a strong delegation present at the event, reflecting the firm’s continued involvement and support of Puerto Rico’s healthcare finance community. Representing the firm during the Assembly were Aurora Cruz, CPA, Audit Manager; Carmen Ana Lliteras, CPA, Consulting Director; Edgardo Rosa, CPA, Senior Tax Manager; Edna Ayala, CPA, Audit Senior Manager; Eric Figueroa, PCA, Audit Manager; Héctor Vázquez, CPA, Partner; Iris Otero, CPA, Partner; Marie Martin; Sofía Rivera, HR Manager; Taireli Hidalgo, CPA, Audit & Assurance Director; Tania Díaz, CPA, Audit Manager; and Wendee Torres.

A key moment of the Assembly was the closing of the 2025–2026 chapter year under the leadership of Taireli Hidalgo, CPA, FHFMA, CHCRS, who served as President of the HFMA Puerto Rico Chapter. During her presentation, Taireli shared highlights from a year centered on member engagement, chapter excellence, mission impact, and professional growth across the healthcare finance community.

Among the accomplishments highlighted during the Assembly was the Chapter’s national recognition as Runner-Up in the HFMA Success Competition, an achievement earned among more than 60 submissions nationwide. Under Taireli’s leadership, the Puerto Rico Chapter also continued expanding member value initiatives, strengthening sponsor engagement, supporting professional certifications, and promoting programs focused on community impact and healthcare leadership. The event also marked the official leadership transition and passing of the gavel to Incoming President Coral Rivera, celebrating both continuity and the future of the Chapter.

The Assembly additionally recognized members whose dedication and service have made a lasting impact within the organization and Puerto Rico’s healthcare finance community. Among those honored during the event were Iris Otero, CPA, Partner, and Taireli Hidalgo, CPA, FHFMA, CHCRS. In addition, Héctor M. Vázquez, CPA, CGMA, Partner, received the prestigious Medal of Honor Award, recognizing his leadership, commitment, and contributions to both the Chapter and the healthcare finance profession.

The event also included an educational session titled “APR DRG in Puerto Rico: From Rollout to Reality,” presented by CPA Ricardo Hernández Rivera, which explored the operational and financial realities surrounding APR DRG implementation in Puerto Rico.
