Members of the Galíndez team joined accounting professionals from across Puerto Rico for the 2026 Annual Convention of the Colegio de Contadores Públicos Autorizados de Puerto Rico (CCPAPR), held September 3 through 6 at El Conquistador Resort in Fajardo.

Under the theme “Trazando nuestro rumbo más allá de los números,” this year’s convention combined professional education with discussions on issues affecting the accounting profession and Puerto Rico’s business community. The educational program began virtually on August 31 and continued with in-person seminars on September 3 and 4, giving participants access to up to 20 hours of continuing education.

Galíndez was represented throughout the convention by Partners Rafael Nieves, CPA; Kenneth Rivera, CPA; Levi Villegas, CPA; Iris Otero, CPA; Henry Flores, CPA; and Héctor Vázquez, CPA, and team members Yelitza Net, CPA; Glenda Benítez, Esq.; Sheila Quiñones; Andrea Martínez, Esq.; Yelitza López, Esq.; Edgardo Rosa, CPA; Jazmarie Rivera, CPA; Alexander Remy; Jennifer Negrón; Sofía Rivera; and Wanda Rodriguez, CPA.

Sharing Expertise Through the Educational Program

Galíndez Tax Partners Kenneth Rivera, CPA, and Iris Otero, CPA, were among the professionals contributing to the convention’s educational program.

On September 3, both participated as instructors in “Actualización Contributiva 2026: Perspectiva Estatal y Federal para el CPA,” which addressed recent developments in Puerto Rico and federal taxation and their implications for taxpayers and professional practice.

Later that day, they also participated in “Actualización Contributiva 2026: Perspectivas del Departamento de Desarrollo Económico y Hacienda,” joining representatives from the Puerto Rico Department of Treasury and Department of Economic Development and Commerce for a discussion of current initiatives, administrative changes, and tax matters affecting Puerto Rico’s business community.

Kenneth continued his participation on September 4 as a moderator of “Puerto Rico Trabaja: El Camino hacia la Autosuficiencia y la Movilidad Económica.” The forum examined workforce participation, economic mobility, and factors affecting Puerto Rico’s labor market, with former Governor Luis Fortuño participating as a special guest.

Connecting With the Next Generation of Accounting Professionals

Members of the Galíndez team participated in the day’s activities, continuing the Firm’s connection with students preparing to enter the accounting profession. Sofía Rivera and Jennifer Negrón represented Galíndez at the Firm’s booth, where they welcomed students throughout the day and spoke with them about the accounting profession, career development, and the experience of working at Galíndez.

Several Galíndez Partners were also present, engaging directly with students and sharing their perspectives and professional experiences. The booth gave students an opportunity to connect with professionals at different stages of their careers, ask questions, and learn more about the paths available within the profession and at Galíndez.

Staying Connected to the Profession

The convention continued through the weekend with the CCPA Annual Assembly, networking activities, and the installation of its new leadership. During the Annual Assembly, members considered matters related to Puerto Rico’s tax system and economic development. The weekend concluded with the transition to the CCPA’s 2026-2027 Board of Government, led by incoming President Gerardo Torres Roldán, CPA.

For Galíndez, participation in the CCPA Annual Convention provides an opportunity for our professionals to remain engaged in the conversations affecting the profession, contribute their expertise, and connect with colleagues and future CPAs.
